1949 Patek Philippe Calatrava (Ref. 2450)
Produced for only a short period of time, the Patek Philippe Calatrava ref 2450 features a large for its time 35mm 18k yellow gold case, referred by collectors as the “Monobloc” due to its single-piece mid case and bezel. This example, dating to 1949, is from the first run of the reference with the caliber 12-120 PS hand-wound mechanical movement. The watch is in very good vintage condition with sharp hallmarks and an unusual Buffalo leather signed Patek Philippe strap. The Extract from the Archives confirms the production date of 1949 with subsequent sale in the spring of 1950. The extract also states the movement was sold alone and later cased by the retailer, a practice that has long since been discontinued! Sorry, no boxes or original papers.
