1968 Rolex Sea-Dweller “Double Red Tropical” [Sold]
Our first reaction upon seeing this timepiece in person was one word… Wow! A “Double Red” Sea-Dweller is an exceptionally rare watch already (being purpose-built for saturation divers with the first one-way helium escape valve – not exactly a wide market), but this one doubles down on the rarity and value with its Mk II “Tropical” dial. The caseback dates to the fourth quarter of 1967 and includes the last three digits of the serial number. The case has been previously polished but is in excellent condition. The 93150 Oyster bracelet and Triplock crown are later service replacements.
Sporting an evenly faded dark chocolate tone, this unusual byproduct of age has created one of the most desirable, collectible and valuable pieces in the world of vintage Rolex. Not only that, but it also includes its original boxes, booklets and certificate! A true prize for a discerning collector!
