1954 Patek Philippe Calatrava (2526J)
Considered by many collectors and aficionados as the finest time-only watch that Patek Philippe has ever produced, the Ref. 2526J is a very special and highly desirable timepiece. The 36mm 18k yellow gold case houses the first self-winding movement developed and released by Patek Philippe – the Ref. 12-600AT. It was also a serially-produced Calatrava with an enamel dial, something that the brand cannot claim even today. The depth and color of the cream enamel dial has to be fully appreciated in person! The piece, produced in 1954 and sold in 1955 as confirmed by the Extract from the Archives, was just fully serviced by Patek Philippe and is in excellent vintage condition. The first-series enamel dial does have some hairline fractures and a very small chip near the center of the small seconds hand – both visible only under magnification. The watch also includes its original box, a real rarity for a piece that is now over seventy years old! A truly exceptional piece for a discerning collector.
